EX-SERVICEMEN'S RALLY
IN DELHI AGAINST CENTRE'S APATHY
06 MAR 2011
Dear Colleagues,
.
The rally at Jantar Mantar was a huge success. It was heart-warming to have 6,500 veterans and 105 families participating from 16 States. The determination to carry on the struggle till our demands – fronted by ‘one rank one pension’ – were met was easily visible on bronzed faces from largely rural India. The 3 km march around Connaught Place area was extremely well disciplined and orderly. The slogans stressing our demands in booming soldierly voice and the large number of placards left little doubt on what we are seeking.
.
An additional 3800 medals were voluntarily deposited. A party of 13 veterans thereafter proceeded to Rashtrapati Bhavan. Since the President was not available to receive the medals in person, these were brought back while the memorandum carrying several thousand signatures in blood was handed over to the staff.
.
Best regards,
.

Dear Kamboj Sir,
ReplyDeleteA Report:-
1. It was an EXCELLENT Rally -- probably the BEST we have had @ Jantar Mantar till today.
2. The rally was very largely attended.
3. The Media was in PLENTY. What was most encouraging about the Media today, was that besides members of the GB/CG, even common members of the IESM were seen talking to the Media. This demonstrated that the Media got not only the GB/CG views but also of our Common ESM.
4. Tea arrangements were GOOD. The stocks lasted till the 'last man - last round' -- there was NO shortages.
5. Rally went on a 'Clock-work' precision. NO wastage of time & everything 'On the Dot'
6. Banners/Placards were in Plenty & looked Good when the whole lot moved out on the road.
7. I had to leave a bit early ( @ 1.30 ) due to another important commitment. So, for the Lunch/Post Lunch session - NO comments.
Best Wishes
Gen Jaini

Respected Gen Kadyan Sir,
ReplyDeleteMy heartiest congratulations to you, as well as all the members of the Governing Body, for having organised such a gigantic, impressive and highly effective Rally on 6 March 2011. I must also convey my sincerest gratitude and congratulations, on behalf of one and all in the State of MP, to all the participants who came from different corners of the country, to make the Rally a big show. I am very confident that this Rally would have created great impact, not only on those who could actually witness it or participated in it, but also, hopefully on the ruling government, who has so far turned deaf ears and Nelson's eye, towards the injustices being done to the defence veterans.
It would have given me great pleasure, if I could have actually participated in the Rally, though my mind, heart and soul were actually concentrating in that direction only. I was telling all my family members about the sacrifices which the veterans are doing for such a noble cause. I gave every body the first news about the Rally, which came out in the local paper this morning. I shall be sending you its scanned copy as soon as practicable.
Sir, as my contribution to the cause, I have put whatever information I have got, along with all the photographs received through "Report My Signal", on my blog "India of My Dreams" at www.indiamydreamland.blogspot.com for wider viewing and readership. I hope it would be able to spread the message of the IESM far and wide.
With kind regards to you and all organisers.
