ASPRIN : Very Important Info for Heart Patients

A former EMT with CareFlight (same as Life Flight in Houston (but in Dallas ) sent this information. He said do not have the heart attack patient swallow the aspirin but place it under the tongue. The reason is that there are 2 good size veins (which return blood to heart) that are only covered by a thin layer of membrane. This allows for the aspirin to almost immediately enter the blood stream going to the heart. If swallowed, the aspirin has to take a longer journey through the stomach before reaching the heart. If you go to a mirror and stick out your tongue so that you can see the underside, you can see the 2 blue veins running parallel on either side of the center of the tongue. This former EMT's Dad was lucky to already know this procedure when he had his heart attack and credits it to saving his life.

If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water .
.
Afterwards :
.
- phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by
.
- say "heart attack!"
