Thought Provokers: Continue to be taken for a ride

A girl is going about doing things that she normally does. One night she goes to a movie, accompanied by a boy.

She is the protagonist of this story.

She and her friend are stuck after the movie, waiting for a government bus (read any state run service) that refuses to come. They get anxious and worry about their safety, as the wait gets longer and the night gets darker and colder. Then comes along this nicely painted, glossy bus (read through promises), offering them a safe drive home. They get lured and get inside hoping for a safe journey home. Once they are in, the bus driver, conductor, cleaner, helper and their handymen (read the perpetrators and their stooges) rape the girl brutally and thrash her friend, as he tries to guard her. They are helpless as the bus is covered all around (read immunity and security cover enjoyed by them) and continues to run (read during the fixed term) without bothering for its passengers getting raped, brutalised and thrashed. The rape and brutalisation goes on, until the victims are of no further use to their tormentors. They are then abandoned by the wayside, in a cold, dark night.

The girl, with her brutalised innards going gangrenous, is admitted to a hospital with subsidised care to fight for a life that she has already lost. Many are crying hoarse over what happened (read protesting citizen groups), but who is bothered? They are busy making speeches, holding press briefs, appointing commissions or making obnoxious statements on the character of the victim and others like her. In effect they are trying to make political and bureaucratic sausages with her gorged out intestine (read public resources) and gobble them up at the opportune time.  They use police brutality to drive away protesters who might not allow them to prey on the victim any more, like vultures drive away their competitors.

The girl puts up a fight for her life, but how much can she fight when all odds are against her? Her self-proclaimed benefactors (read the perpetrators) now seek foreign help (read as often provided to the perpetrators) to revive her, fully knowing that she is beyond any help. Her helpless parents go along, hoping that at least some one will come to their daughter’s rescue. But it is too late, and the protagonist of this story dies. She finally pays the price, falling for the lures of a safe drive home, in place of a government bus that did not arrive in time.

Let us wish her a safe ride at least in her final journey…….
……… and await our turn to be the protagonists of many such stories that will be written on the politically and bureaucratically raped and brutalised innards of Mother India.

These are the views of the author alone whose name has not been disclosed

Is suitably edited

Will a strong law really help, when the protectors of law themselves are least concerned about the prevailing lawlessness? The perpetrators have become fearless and care two hoots for the enforcing agencies. The public demands for justice would be soon forgotten by an indifferent immune and mute government, and life will go on as heretofore.

  1. My comment to all those in power( past and present) who have failed her!

    360 years have elapsed since Cromwell spoke these words

    Oliver Cromwell MP's speech on the dissolution of the Rump of the Long Parliament, given to the House of Commons, 20 April 1653.

    "It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice;
    ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government;
    ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would, like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

    Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess?
    Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

    Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defiled this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices?

    Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone!

    So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.
    In the name of God, go!"
